Rules for Advancement

Players returning for the upcoming season will begin play in the same division in which they finished playing in the previous season, except for players moving up in division because of their finish in the JGA Championship. The Board of Directors will evaluate new members applications and assign new members to a division. New members will not be assigned to Boys or Girls Championship. New members’ play will be monitored and division adjustments will be made by the Board of Directors accordingly.

A playoff between players tied for 1st place will be conducted to determine the 1st place winner. Ties for the 2nd or 3rd place trophy will be decided by a match of cards beginning with the last hole the division played, going back until a winner is determined.

Any player eligible to move up after the last weekly tournament of the season will have the option of staying in their current division for the JGA Championship or moving up. If they stay in their current division for the JGA Championship they will move up the following season to the division they obtained in the last weekly tournament of the season, regardless of their finish in the JGA Championship.

All players must be competitive in their division to remain in that division. The Executive Director will make the decision on a player’s ability to remain in their current division.

Girls and Boys 3-hole and 5-hole Divisions:

In order to be eligible to move up a division, a player must finish in 1st or 2nd place AND be approved by the Executive Director who will review divisional scoring, size and strength of field that week.

Boys 9-hole Division:

In order to be eligible to move up a division, a player must finish in 1st or 2nd place AND shoot a score of 43 or better. If a player shoots two scores of 50 or higher in a given season, they are subject to being moved down one division.

Girls 9-hole Division:

In order to be eligible to move up a division, a player must win the division twice AND shoot a score of 45 or better. If a player shoots two scores of 55 or higher in a given season, they are subject to being moved down one division.

Boys Junior Division:

In order to be eligible to move up a division, a player must finish in 1st or 2nd place AND shoot 85 or better. If a player shoots two scores of 95 or higher in a given season, they are subject to being moved down one division.

Girls Junior Division:

In order to be eligible to move up a division, a player must win the division twice AND shoot a score of 90 or better. If a player shoots two scores of 105 or higher in a given season, they are subject to being moved down one division.

Boys Championship Division:

A player in Boys Championship must have averaged 85 or below in the previous season to begin the next season in the championship division.  The player must maintain an average of 85 or better in his first three (3) events of the current season to stay in the division.

Girls Championship Division:

A player in Girls Championship must have averaged 90 or below in the previous season to begin the next season in the championship division.  The player must maintain a 90 average or better in his first three (3) events of the current season to stay in the division.
