JGA of Broward County

The Junior Golf Association of Broward County, Inc. (referred to as the “JGA”) is a Non-Profit Corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida.

The Junior Golf Association of Broward County, Inc was founded in 1968 by junior golf parents, Steve and Olga Purdo. Their mission was to provide their children with a positive and fun-filled activity during the summer months. Over the years, many adult and junior volunteers have been dedicated to continuing this mission and have contributed to the success of this program.

Junior Golf Association tournaments are held in June, July and August. Up to 400 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 participate in the tournaments. With the cooperation of golf course owners, members and golf pros, the JGA is fortunate to offer tournaments on many public and private golf courses in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The mission of Junior Golf Association of Broward County has continued since 1968 to create a positive and fun-filled golf environment during the summer, where ALL kids can come to develop their love for the game of golf no matter their skill level.

• To provide a positive environment for children to learn the game of golf.
• To instill values of honesty, integrity, teamwork and friendship amongst players.
• To build a JGA community with the valuable support of our parents and junior volunteers.
• To create a performance-based competition that allows every golfer to play within their means and advance through the competitive divisions based on their skill level.
• To recognize academic and community accomplishments of our junior golfers by providing awards and scholarships for those that qualify.
• To give back to our community by supporting charities that help our local community grow and help those in need.
• To make tournament golf assessable to any child interested in playing.
