Competition Format Definitions
Individual Stroke Play
(Rules of Golf Rule 3) Each player plays their own ball until it is holed. The player with the lowest total score for the round wins.
Mixed Four-Person Team Event
(Rules of Golf Rule 24) — Week 2
Definition:
Teams of four players—comprised of both male and female golfers—compete in a stroke play event using the Two Best Balls of Four format.
How It Works:
- All four players play their own ball.
- On each hole, the two lowest scores among the group are combined for the team score.
- The team with the lowest total score for the round wins the competition.
Match Play Event
(Rules of Golf Rule 3.2) — Weeks 4 & 5
Format Overview:
Players compete head-to-head in three separate 6-hole matches within a foursome.
Match Rotation:
- Holes 1–6: A vs. B, C vs. D
- Holes 7–12: A vs. C, B vs. D
- Holes 13–18: A vs. D, B vs. C
Scoring:
- Win = 1 point
- Tie = ½ point
- Loss = 0 points
The player with the most total points after 18 holes wins the foursome.
Tiebreakers:
- Head-to-head result
- (Insert second tiebreaker once finalized)
Advancement:
Winners from Week 4 advance to the final matches in Week 5.
Foursomes (Modified Alternate Shot — TwoPerson Team Event)
(Rules of Golf Rule 22)
Two-person, gender-specific teams compete in a stroke play format using Modified Alternate Shot.
How the Format Works:
- Both players tee off on every hole.
- Each player then plays their partner’s tee shot, regardless of whether the tee shot incurs a penalty.
- After each player has hit one shot from their partner’s tee ball (two strokes per ball), the team selects the best ball position.
- From that point forward, the team plays alternate shot until the ball is holed.
- This process repeats on every hole.
Example:
Player A hits their tee shot into a penalty area.
Player B takes the appropriate drop and plays the third shot for that ball.
Player A then plays the second shot of Player B’s tee ball, since each player must hit their partner’s tee shot before the team chooses the preferred position.
