Since 1968, the Junior Golf Association of Broward County (JGA) has touched the lives of thousands of young people and their families who are drawn to the program by the many benefits it offers. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the program provides an environment that enables children to compete in a friendly atmosphere while also learning the rules, respect, and love for the game of golf.
In addition, the program teaches valuable life lessons such as discipline, focus, perseverance, and sportsmanship, all of which can be applied in many other areas of life. Still not convinced? Check out these testimonials from some of our former players.
“What the JGA has meant to me” Deep breath in, deep breath out. I step onto the tee box, for the first time, ever. I feel my heart beat faster, my hands begin to sweat, and I’m quite literally shaking in my golf shoes that barely even fit me. The announcer finishes his spiel, “and […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” Dear Scholarship Committee, I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to submit this college scholarship application letter. It was nearly a decade ago, in April 2016, when my dad received an email from the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation encouraging members to participate in tournaments organized by […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” Being part of the Broward County Junior Golf Association has been a really great experience for me. When I first joined, I just wanted to play golf and have fun over the summer. But it turned out to be much more than that. I learned a lot—not just […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” One of my proudest moments came in 2022 when I won my first tournament. It was the Boys B Championship and I was in 5 strokes back of the lead after the first day. That win especially being able to come back from a bad first day was […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” The Junior Golf Association (JGA) has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey as a young athlete. To me, JGA is more than just a competitive outlet—it’s a community that has supported my growth both on and off the course. It gave me the chance […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” I started playing golf in 2014, after my second-grade teacher told my parents that the sport of golf would force me to calm down. I was very hyper and over the years, golf through the four steps has forced me to slow down. I remember in 2014, when […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” It’s hard to come up with a definitive answer as to what makes JGA special to me. Because of the amount of time I’ve spent within the organization and how many great memories I have, I am confident when I say that JGA means more to me than […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” I’ve been playing golf since I was four years old back in Venezuela. I used to be pretty good—I won several tournaments and practiced about five days a week. Golf was a huge part of my life. However, when I moved to the United States at age ten, […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” Golf has played a critical role in my growth over the years, and it could never have happened without the JGA and the GCJGF. These organizations have not only given me a platform to compete and grow as an athlete but have also shaped me as a person […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” My Journey to the 18th Hole For me, golf has always been more than just a sport, it’s been a metaphor for life. Each hole represents a different chapter, filled with challenges, victories, setbacks, and growth. And now, standing at the 18th hole of my junior golf journey […]
“What the JGA has meant to me” Being a part of the JGA of Broward County has been a great experience and has made a tremendous difference in my golf career. “What the JGA has meant to me” My eight years of playing with JGA have significantly impacted me, both personally and as a golfer. The JGA has functioned as a place of learning, both for the game of golf and growth as a young man. The JGA has functioned as a home away from home, […]
“JGA has left a lasting impact, and was an integral part of my growth both as a golfer and a human being. Exposing myself to competitive situations and stressful environments allowed me to see a version of myself that I would have not gotten the chance to see often had JGA not existed, and allowed me to make adjustments and find ways to become the best version of myself both on and off the course…”
“Without JGA, I know for a fact I would not be where I am today. It made me a better person and made me more determined in my junior golf career…”
“I learned and grew a lot both as a person and in the field of golf. I am sincerely grateful for all of the amazing people I have met and the wonderful opportunity I have had to engage in the game of golf in a new and exciting way…”
“Now, as a golf coach myself, I teach other six to twelve-year-old children about the sport and the mental aspect of it, helping them to find calm and focus as well. I will always be grateful to the JGA and the game for being a mindful practice…”
“Not only did I find my fuel to play golf at a JGA tournament but I also found a home. JGA was such a great tour to start playing competitive golf at such a young age…”
